Karen Adams ( Shirley MacLaime ) has a problem.
She's just discovered that her university professor husband Adam ( Anthony Hopkins ) is having an affair with Linsey ( bo Dereck ) one of his students.
But rather than ending the marriage Karen decides to take a lover of her own.
Soon all four are getting on famously and they all decide to take a winter holiday away together.......
Things are going well until Adam & Karen's daughter Kasey (Mary Beth Hurt ) arrives unannounced for a surprise visit.
